I Fuck The Body Electric

It supposed to be a one night-stand
meaningless sex
good…….
but meaningless

Two condoms
in my pocket
I was going in
gun blazing
taking no prisoners
no strings

Cuddling seems futile
it’s just lust

Let’s put our manners aside
and do it
wanting nothing more than to leave
and become just another
adolescent braggart

But there’s something else
in you that makes
talking and cuddling easier
and the worst part
is I like it

A Gift From Martha

We met at Arby’s
for the first time
about a half a mile from my house

Your face didn’t match
your voice

Then again it never does

Your dirty blonde hair
parted the middle
it was feathered
resembling a 70’s disco queen

I noticed some
light blonde peach fuzz
over your top lip
it wasn’t too noticeable

We shared some nervous small talk
about  Arizona
the curly fries
my birthday present

as we finally got to your place
the pain meds were kicking in
everything was in slow motion

I kept saying you name
In my head
“Martha”  “Martha”

my innocence was lost
at 20.

Mark Gaudet

Mark Gaudet throws us some touching little surprises in his work that delves into the sexual and emotional awakenings of a young man. Mark says: “I was first published at the age of 15. I mainly write to empty out my head. Usually whatever is on my mind comes out on paper. Two major influences for me are Charles Bukowski and William Carlos Williams. I love free verse. My poetry has appeared in  journals in the US, Europe, and Canada, including Fauquier Poetry Journal, Fledgling, The Plowman, Poetic License Poetry Magazine, the Moon, Magpie's Nest The Poet's Haven, Talväipivänseisaus Specials, The Persistent Mirage, 3Cup Morning, Zygote in My Coffee, Children, Churches and Daddies, Poetic Hours, Down in the Dirt, Remark, S.S.O. Press, and Thieves Jargon.
