Alison Tanaka California | | APB: Allison (Inaba) Tanaka. Last seen alive and well in San Mateo, California. Considered heavily armed with poetry and dangerous. | What do you do for a living?
I work for an extremely large software corporation. I talk and write a lot about what needs to be done to the software and corporate websites to make them globally capable. Sometimes I really like what I do. Sometimes I feel like I’m babbling. Who are your favorite artists?
Favorites? I'm about as much of an eclectic mix as those I read or listen too. Musically, pretty much anything/anyone up to soft rock from the 60's to 90's, and yes, I'll say it, country too, if it's not too whiney. Books, mostly non fiction. And poetry, let's see, the list can get up there. Mostly writing styles the likes of people here in the ho!d, then a wide range. Anne Sexton, Anais Nin, Miller, Bukowski, Ray Carver, Adrienne Rich, Marge Piercy, Bob Kaufman, Paz, Neruda, Charles Olsen. I don't know, whoever else sits on my bookshelf, or is yet to come. What influences you to write about/how you do?
Most of my writing now is perception. I’m amazed by how differently I can see and experience the same event or image. Poetry may be the interpretation or translation of this amazement. Where do you see the underground writing scene in 25 years?
There is always an underground. In 25 years, the underground as we almost know it today will be taught in schools like evolution. Just not in Kansas. from cait - Allison, you will soon be a newlywed. give us the date, the time, the place of your honeymoon and what, if anything, you plan extra special and kinky for your honeymoon. that way, when you’re in bed, you’ll know the entire hold will be thinking of you. (and now we know you’ll think of us! at least for that spit,,,,errr split second)ha!
We’re getting married in a Japanese garden in Northern California. It’ll be a very small wedding – attended mainly by family. The first night of our honeymoon will be in Las Vegas, because we want to have dinner at a special restaurant there. All the rest of the nights (days too, if all works out as planned) will be steamy in Hawaii (undisclosed locations) with lots of hand holding, tender kisses, longing looks, long walks on the beach…kinky is what happens to my hair when it’s humid. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of that. Heh. | |
