Ori Livneh toronto, ontario, canada | | "Ori is 17 & he writes & he loves & he lives in Toronto but not for long. He was born in Israel & lived in Chicago & therefore has a gigantic identity crisis. He lurks inactively in his basement for awfully long periods of time." | What do you do for a living?
i'm a poet. Who are your favorite artists?
umm. ts elliot, bukowski, rimbaud, androla, hunter s thomspon, radiohead, li po, rumi, kafka, burroughs, marquez.. favorite emerging writers is sarah lombardo & n.r. morgan, pressure press people.. What influences you to write about/how you do?
envy & desire that burn like a bad case of ulcers. Where do you see the underground writing scene in 25 years?
well, nothing ever changes, right? it has been the definitive launching pad for great writers for ages. a launching pad not necessarily into commercial success or even extensive readership, but rather into a position of influence to progress poetry a small step. i don't think it'll change much really. The internet is in the process of drowning the dedicated underground 'scene' with a bunch of hacks who take writing half-seriously. you have shitty teenage journal 'writers' that write flower poetry who consider themselves 'underground' because they don't get readers. publishing your poetry on paper and getting yourself out there is a process that takes dedication, and the internet has eliminated this filtering process. maybe in the future the underground will operate in small, isolated, self-sufficient cells that float lazily in a sandbox of garbage. from cait - what are your pets peeve and do you throw up or down - ?meaning whatever this question meant to you the split second you read it..
i i hate it when people use my computer or, specifically: when people touch my keyboard. also academic elitism, fakers & uppercase letters.i throw up and i throw hard but gravity always nabs it back. | |
