• from cait - hi marc, what sparked your interest in Fantomas, the Master of Shock and Horror, Genius of Crime and as an immigration lawyer, what are your duties and is there a special reason you are always fully clothed?
Guillame Apolinaire founded la Societe' des amis de Fantomas in 1912. Some of the greatest names in 20th century art and writing became members. It was only to be expected that I would become prominent in the Society.
(See: http://www.fantomas.org click on the 'famous friends' link.)

Fantomas was always in disguise. In all the novels, with each new introduction of a character, you ask yourself: "Is this Fantomas?". The character might have been a little girl, an old woman or a dog, but still you wondered, 'Could this be Fantomas in disguise?"To catch him, Inspector Juve was always in disguise too. So when you weren't wondering, 'Could this be Fantomas?', you were wondering, 'Or could it be Juve?'.

In fact, in Fantomas novels, almost everyone is in disguise all the time. Just like real life. You are always wondering.

La Societe' continues today. In 2011, we will all meet in Paris to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the novel's first publication.

Why am I always fully clothed?
Answer 1. Once I dreamed I was at a legal conference. All of the lawyers had brief cases and little presentations to make except for me. I had no brief case. I had a pillowcase full of stuff to think about. I dragged it around everywhere. But at least I was wearing clothes. Every other lawyer at this conference was butt naked.

One-by-one, each of them got up and walked to the podium. Then they gave their little speeches. It was really boring. I was asleep before it all was over. When I woke up, every lawyer there was wearing an article of my clothing, except me. I was butt naked. Ever since then, I have resolved never to remove my clothes. I shower with them on.

If I were not always fully clothed, women would be mad with joy and could no longer function with their pathetic husbands and boyfriends.

My duties as an immigration lawyer involve keeping my clothes on while I am at work
