Frank Drake
Melrose, Massachusetts

My name is yrdog4now. Admittedly it is not what my father calls. Nor for that matter what my sons call me. Not only that, but what my sons call me is not what my father calls me. This may explain why I do not have a statue of dad on my lawn.
Recently the plot got even thicker. I bugged my "dad" to send me my adoption papers. Now I know my name. It's Frank Drake. Not Art, Otis, Alex, dog, Cooper, or any of the other monikers I've gone by. Identity crisis? Nah. To whatever extent the idea of self isn't just a provisional illusion I remain "me". As for my identity as a poet, well, that too is entirely provisional. What's in a name anyway?

• What do you do for a living?
Musician and software engineer.
• Who are your favorite artists?

Far too numerous to mention. And "artist" is incredible broad. My tastes are broad ranging a eclectic. As for poets, these days I'm into James Tate and Charles Simic.
• What influences you to write about/how you do?
People inspire me. Many of my poems are for or about certain individuals. I also write about my past, my childhood, my tribulations.
• Where do you see the underground writing scene in 25 years?
I have no idea. These seems like a time of transition. The way the internet will affect the scene as not really shaken out yet. I'm not sure I consider myself part of an "underground" other then in the sense that I ignore the mainstream and tend towards a DIY approach to how I get my own stuff out there.
• from cait - I’ve read that you never got around to erecting a statue of your father on your front lawn. what I need to know is if you are ever going to accomplish this feat and if so, when, how, what equipment will you need and who will you name it after!?
Well, I think I'd want to sculpt him out of potatoe salad. So I'd need a back-hoe and a dump truck full of the stuff. Or maybe chopped liver. Yea, that's better. So, back-hoe, dumpt truck, some scafolding, a nice big ass trowel ... that's a start anyway.
