she wore an expensive full length fur
to cover threadbare pauper's garb
stood with knees slightly bent
so that her mink touched the ground
to shade and hide street-eaten shoes

her painted over conversation
hid a masterpiece beneath opaque layers
revealed by the touch of a delicate shovel
in the soft velvet hands of an artist intent
on a backstroke upstream
toward the source of the flow

Eric C. Harrison is a painter, illustrator, writer & musician that lives
near a salt marsh in Lynn, Ma. with his dog Justice. He tries to choose the right media to express or capture his ideas, thoughts & perceptions. His artwork mostly appears on albums covers, but has also been used for movie story boards, zines, chapbooks, clothing etc. His written work appears in some literary zines including Thunder Sandwich, Tim Peeler's Third Lung Review and Rockzillaworld's Americana Poetry Consortium. Eric is a member of GRIEF, the Boston based doom-metal band.
